3. Taking Medication with Coffee, Calcium, Iron and/or Iodine
All of these substances block the body’s ability to absorb thyroid medication. While it’s obvious to avoid supplements and foods containing these ingredients, also be wary of foods fortified with calcium and iron and calcium-rich antacid tablets.
4. Changing Brands without Your Doctor’s Consent
Sometimes insurance companies pay more on generic prescriptions, but there is actually a big difference between different brands of thyroid medication. Always speak with your doctor before switching medication brands and take all thyroid medications exactly as prescribed.
What Dr has verifyed/put their name to this when i was diagnosed with graves disease hyperthyroidism showed i was also malnourished and anemic(was undiagnosed for 6 months) so was told to take a vitiman suplement particularly iron (just a high dose over counter one as cheaper then perscription) and protein bar between a meal till my next check up, as well as increase in fiber to help with the side afect of losse bowels (comon with thyroid condition) yet here it says not to take excess of either of these
Thanks for your comment! Please note the article mentions avoiding sudden changes in fiber, not avoiding fiber altogether. Sufficient daily intake of iron is necessary for normal bodily functions.
